When you join the Green Party, you can help however you like.

Just by becoming a member, your donations will help us to do more to get our first MPs elected.

Whatever you enjoy doing, there is always lots to help with, from writing letters to the papers, to delivering leaflets, knocking on doors, organising events and, of course, standing as a Green Party candidate.

Whatever time or effort you put in will be completely up to you.

Answers to some common questions about joining the Green Party

Can anyone join the Green Party?

Membership is open to everyone. You don't have to agree with every single one of our policies and, no, you don't have to pass a test!

The only requirements are that you are not a member of another party (apart from our sister Green Parties in other countries) and that you accept the party's aims to create a fair, equal and green society.

How much does it cost?

As long as you donate more than £10 a year (£5 if you are a student) this also covers your membership fee. Just answer 'Yes' to the question 'Would you like to join the Green Party' on the form when you make a donation.

What will I receive from you?

We will try not to swamp you with paperwork. Most of the information you will need to stay in touch with us is available online.

When you first join, you will get a welcome pack containing a short guide to membership. Then, four times a year, you will receive a copy of our official magazine 'Green World'. There are also annual elections for national party officers and occasional mailings about important campaigns.

Your local and regional parties may also contact you with important information and ballot papers for internal elections.

Can I cancel if I change my mind?

We hope you will remain a member of the Green Party for many years after you join. But, if you do change your mind, you can contact us at any time to cancel your membership or your direct debit payments.

Where can I find out more about your policies?

Policies are decided by our members at twice-yearly conferences. We have something to say on every subject, not just the environment. Find out more about our policies here.
