Our key policies

The Green Party will fight for change in these key ways:

Maintaining public spending on the services that we all need.

The government needs to invest to maintain jobs and help to ensure that we don't fall into a double-dip recession.

Building the pressure for a real global initiative to tackle climate change.

We will press for a fair, ambitious and legally binding agreement to cut carbon emissions and insist that Britain leads the way in developing renewable energy technologies.

  Campaigning for more green jobs

Cutting unemployment by creating one million jobs.

We propose major initiatives to improve public transport and provide free insulation in every home, which could save each family around £150 a year in fuel bills.

Calling for the cancellation of the planned Trident replacement.

We are fundamentally opposed to wasting billions of public money on this deadly and unnecessary weapon.
Nuclear weapons should have no place in Britain's future.

Giving every child the best possible chance in life.

We will press for schools to be properly funded and accountable to parents and local authorities.

Adrian Ramsay campaigns to save local health care services

Fair pensions and free social care for older people.

We will fight for a decent basic pension for all - and free care and support for older people.

Giving students a fair deal.

Greens in Parliament will fight for higher education available to all, not just those who can afford it. We'll oppose student fees and support grants, not loans.

Protecting human rights and stopping unjust, unnecessary wars.

We will demand a progressive foreign policy and the withdrawal of UK troops from Afghanistan.

If you support the Green Party's program for change, then please join us today.

Help us fight and win our first seats in Parliament, and then support the long term fight for the environment, jobs and justice.
